COOK: DIY Pre-made Smoothie Packets (cheap. easy. gooood.)

I was given a bunch of bags of the Yoplait Smoothie premade bags recently, as a thank you for helping someone move. (Loved it, since the hubby did all the work and I got the reward!) Anyway...the smoothies are really wonderful, even if they are very high in calories. I split mine with my two kids, so I didn't spend all my calories by 10 a.m. :) I go to purchase more at the store...yike! They're expensive.

So, here we go, here is an SUPER SIMPLE way to make your own SMOOTHIE PACKS,
super cheap, super easy and super good for you.

PRE-FREEZE:

1. YOGURT - Unsweetened yogurt, put into ice cube trays, mini-cup cake tins, or regular old cupcake tins. It doesn't really matter. Whatever you have, use it! No liners required. Put into freezer. Once they are solid, you can take them out and let them sit for a little while until you can pop them out with a spoon.

2. FRUIT- Slice all your fresh fruit. Then, lay out on a cookie sheet (one layer, not touching each other). I like to use bananas in EVERY smoothie packet, because it thickens up the smoothie. Other than that, go wild with the ingredients. Any berry will be fantastic!
(Exception: you would think that grapefruit would be great, but it wasn't....just ask my kids :)

BAG IT - Once everything is pre-frozen, (you want to do this so they don't stick together in one huge clump in your freezer. Your blender will not like you very much), lay it all out and put about 1 1/2 cups of fruit and enough yogurt to amount to 3/4 cup in a quart size freezer bag.

MAKE IT - Dump in your pre-made smoothie mix, a cup of ice cubes (and water/juice/milk/soy, if needed to thin it out). Blend until smooth and then sit down and enjoy the deliciousness!

EASY & YUMMY!
Enjoy, the Fruit Ninja :)
