I know this may seem like a crazy post, I know...but, I about died the other day when I ran out of Whole Cloves (for my home made Chai Tea recipe!! yumo!) They were $8.00 for a teeny-tiny little jar! I can seriously go through Whole Cloves, so I decided to wait until I was at my regular grocery store, Valli Produce, where they sell spices (and many other dry goods) in bulk. I searched for the spices on Peapod and found there was significant savings in all my spice purchases. Here are a few of my actual spice purchases comparing them to the prices on PEAPOD.com (which are very comparable to many ordinary grocery stores).

So, at the grocery store, you will pay $41.58 for an ounce of Bay Leaves.
I paid $0.60 for an ounce of Bay Leaves when purchasing them in bulk. NICE.
That is MAJOR savings. And no, my bay leaves aren't all PERFECT, there are some crumbs that obviously I can't use in my soups, but for the most part, they are large and in tact. And for that kind of savings, a few crumbles here and there are worth it!
I saved $2.60 by purchasing these bay leaves in bulk and received more than 10 times more product!! Now, that is some serious savings!!

Here I saved $8.74 and again purchased at least 4 times as much!
