I am so excited about science. To be honest, I have never been a "science girl"...but, this curriculum has got me totally pumped about the upcoming year. We will be going through two smaller units of science, botany and astronomy in conjunction with our co-op. I have been impressed with Apologia science curriculum from the very beginning, we have gone through Anatomy and Land Animals of the 6th Day previously. Fantastic! Love, love, love this stuff!
This is my third graders third year in apologia science, but my baby girl's first. (See how excited my baby girl is?? :-) Thankfully, they will be learning together, so we only need one textbook, but they each need their own notebooking journals. I found mine at heartsathomestore.com. THEY ARE ON SALE RIGHT NOW!!!! Get 'em quick!!
Inside Textbooks: Here are a few pictures from the Astronomy Textbook...don't ask my why I didn't take any of the Botany text...it's just because I am so organized!! :) Sorry! They are every bit as good!
By the way, I found no difference in the JUNIOR and regular notebooking journals, if you were wondering.
Maybe you weren't...
but, maybe you were!
Now, I know the journals can add up, when you purchase one per child, but they are SO worth it!! Take a look at these activities: (these are not just workbook pages you can find easily on the internet, like so many "notebooking journals" can be...but these actually get your child interacting with the information they are learning about...that's "the dream", right?)
Added bonuses: I love (adore, really) that they include book suggestions along with great descriptions of what the book offers (instead of me bumbling around the library trying to find what I need). :)
I hope you enjoyed this installment of my curriculum choices for this year. There is MUCH more to come...next up, Mystery of History!! Stay tuned! By the way, if you missed my review of Horizons Math, just click here: Horizon's Math Review
Happy Summer!!

Nice big glossy pics & activities - the page on the left is an activity on "Making a Compass" |
This is another example of inside the astronomy textbook. Lots of hands-on learning activities, as you can see. |
