Back to our story...we regularly work on keeping our budget low. For example, we live without cable and we use a cash budget for all of our monthly expenses. A while back, we began looking at what we spend on our cell phones. We were in for quite a shock.
We were currently spending about $240 a month in cell phone service! Bleck, gag, I'm gonna have a stroke! Especially when I consider how much it is over a year.
But, on the other hand, just look at the nice snaps I can capture with my iPhone!

Our first conversation about it went like this:
Hubs: I think we are overpaying for our cell phone plans.
Me: Oh, really? (Tightening my grip on beloved iPhone)
Hubs: I think if we use Boost or Virgin mobile, we could save between $100-$200 a month.
Me: Hmmm, maybe we should look into it. (Nooooo! I need my iPhone! It's my camera! My email! My Bible! How heartless to try to take away my Bible!)
The risk taker that I am, I made hubs try it out first. After he got his iPhone and it worked well, I finally gave in. Well, I just got my iPhone 4S from Virgin mobile. My bill is...hold on, be prepared. $35 a month! Whaaaat??!!!
OLD SPRINT PLAN:
2 phones with unlimited everything - $240/month
= $2680.00/yr.
NEW VIRGIN MOBILE PLAN:
2 new iPhones - $558 (they offer more time to pay if you don't have the cash for the phone right now)
Eric's phone - 1 unlimited plan - $540/yr.
My phone - 1 unlimited text/low minutes - $420/yr
=$1518/yr.
This year we will save: $1172 on our cell service.
Next year we will save a whopping $1730 on our cell service.
That's some serious cashola in my budget. Thank you very much Sprint, but I'm moving on.
(This is not a paid review in any way, just our experience in shaving unnecessary expenses from our budget.)
