All About Creation (for kids)

My kids have always known there was a God and that He created the world. Then, they began watching "Dinosaur Train". Don't get me wrong, it's a cute little cartoon. But, as I am listening, the paleontologist comes on in the middle of the show and begins explaining how the world is millions of years old. My kids were probably four years old when they began watching this cartoon. I realized that the world doesn't wait to teach them about Evolution...so I better not wait to teach them about creation!
I feel like we need to make sure we are addressing the issues that kids face, not once they get into Jr. High, but teaching them how their worldview helps them interpret things such as creation and evolution. This year, we began talking about what evolution is. I helped them to understand that this is a THEORY. That is an important thing for them to understand. This theory is not based on biblical truth, but on a far-fetched idea of how the world and all living organisms were created.
We took a trip this year to the Creation Museum located right outside Cincinnati, Ohio. It blew me away! They did such an excellent job making it interactive and interesting to adults and kids. They had gorgeous videos, sets of Noah's ark, etc. I will be sharing some pictures of our trip there, in a future post.
Today, I wanted to share some of the excellent resources I have come across for my kids. I hope you find them helpful in sharing a biblical worldview with your children.
Evolution-proof Animals video: a great video! My kids loved it and learned a TON!! I can't recommend it highly enough.
Buddy Davis has a bunch of books, DVD's and CD's available to order online. Or, you can download the video for half the price! We have several of these DVD's and though they are a little cheesy for me (they are made for kids!), my nine year-old loves, adores them. DVD's are $14.99 and digital downloads are $7.99!
A fantastic creation magazine called Answers. Beautiful articles, a fun pull out section for kids, with a poster they can hang up. Beautiful photography...so well done! Love it!
There is an excellent website, run by the same people who publish Answers magazine and the Creation Museum. It is called Answers in Genesis. It is stock full of great blogs, interesting videos for the kids and great articles about tons of different animals. Such a great resource!
I hope you enjoy these great resources! Please post more in comments to share with our community of readers! Thank you so much!
